Second Step Overview (External Use)
Overview
The Second Step curriculum, developed by the Committee for Children, is a school-based social-emotional learning (SEL) program for students from early learning through middle school. The program provides educators with lessons and materials to teach children crucial social and emotional skills, such as empathy, emotion management, problem-solving, and responsible decision-making. By focusing on these skills, Second Step aims to improve student behavior, increase their school success, and create a more positive learning environment. Second Step is used district wide for all schools except the transformation schools. This is a teacher facing app only and no student data is synced in.
User Management
The Special Curriculum Team is responsible for creating and managing user accounts. Users can log in to their new account using Clever's Single Sign-On (SSO) feature via their portal. If a user does not have an existing Clever account, they must submit a request to the EdTech Applications team through a Zendesk ticket.
Key Point: A Second Step account must be created before a user can log in with Clever. Clever functions exclusively as an SSO tool and does not handle Second Step rostering.
